![]() ![]() Park & Rec. Committee Thursday, June 19 2008 TIME: 9:30 a.m. LOCATION: at the Taycheedah Town Hall Business Meeting AGENDA Agenda 1) Discuss Hermanns Park development, 2) Public Comments. 3) Adjournment. Brenda A. Schneider Town Clerk MINUTES The Park & Rec. Advisory Council met on Thursday, June 19, 2008 at 9:30 a.m. at the Town Hall. Present were Chairperson Earl Jewett, Laura Pierret and Jim Bertram. Absent were Brenda Schneider, Lyle Nett, John Abler, John Rickert, Gary Morgen, John Morris, Bob Roehrig, Janet Velasco, Kim Bertram and Ed Schneider. Also present were: Pam Thielman, Don Schultz, Lee Sabel, John Schrum, Clarence Kraus, and Judy Bertram. Chairman Jewett called the meeting to order at 9:35 a.m. 1. Discuss Hermanns Park Development: Chair Jewett recommended that the slide color be changed from dark green to tan to reduce the amount of heat conducted from the sun. Because of the slide color change, the bars would be changed from tan to dark green so the playground equipment would maintain a contrasting color scheme. All were in favor of the change. Phase 1 has been ordered for $12,572.00 and should arrive for installation by mid-July, 2008. Consensus was that the fall-zone should be maintained slightly below ground level; in doing so, less material will be kicked out of the playground area into the grass. Fundraising Steering Committee Chairs Laura Pierret and Pam Thielman presented a proposal as to what approach to take in soliciting funds. After consulting with previous clubs from the area who needed to raise funds for a town project, the committee chairs suggested a letter writing campaign to be sent to all residents of the Town of Taycheedah. A sample letter was distributed. Consensus was that this would be a positive initial campaign in soliciting funds. Additionally, seven possible fundraisers were presented that would serve as a follow-up to the letter writing campaign. They are: a winter hike through Kiekhaefer Park with a per person admission; a rummage sale at the town hall; flamingo flocking; selling hot chocolate during sledding; an on-going can drive; a babysitting service at the town hall during the holiday shopping season; a golf outing at Thornbrook. The committee outlined what each phase would include. They are as follows: Phase 1: Initial playset with 2-bay traditional swingset (ordered—mid-July arrival) Phase 2: Sandbox, picnic tables, benches, preliminary landscaping (to include hedge between trees with wood chips at base along Highway QQ), ledge stone by park sign Phase 3: Rock and rides, excavator station Phase 4: Intensity fitness station, basketball ½ court/four square play area Phase 5: Shelter/bathroom 2. Public Comment: The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, July 9th, at 9:30 a.m. 3. Adjournment: Chairman Jewett declared the meeting adjourned at 11:00 a.m. Laura Pierett Committee Member |
