MINUTES

The Johnsburg Sanitary District Commission met on Tuesday, September 2nd, 2008, at 9:00 a.m., at the Taycheedah Town Hall, for the purpose of conducting their September monthly meeting. Members present were President Franz Schmitz, Commissioners Dennis Lefeber and Ken Schneider and Recording Secretary Brenda Schneider.
1. Call to order. President Schmitz called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m.
2. Approval of meeting minutes. The Commission reviewed the minutes of the 8/5/08 meeting. Hearing no objections, the President declared the minutes approved as presented.
3. Discuss operational issues. The used pump has been repaired and is ready for pick-up. The repair work is expected to be approximately $900.00. The new pump will cost $2,100.00.
Gas odors are re-occurring at the Johnsburg Road/Mengel Hill Road area when there are strong westerly winds. Calumet Sanitary District is pursuing an evaluation of the presence sulfide gas. Hopefully, they will initiate a treatment program.
4. Discuss unresolved matters pertaining to Taycheedah Sanitary District No. 1. No discussion occurred.
5. Consideration and possible approval of a recommendation to Taycheedah Sanitary District No. 1 regarding an Operations & Maintenance Agreement. Brenda Schneider will prepare a revised draft agreement for Commission review. The Commission continues to strive for a joint contract. The draft will be submitted to TSD#1 for their consideration.
6. Approval of District bills. Dennis Lefeber motion to approve the bills totaling $3,183.38 (order nos. 58-67), and to authorize the following:
• Transfer $3,115.00 from the User Charge Account to the regular checking account for operational expenses,
• Transfer $7,354.62 from the User Charge Account to the Debt Service Account, and
• Transfer $596.32 from the User Charge Account to the Reserve for Replacement Account.
The motion was seconded by Ken Schneider. Motion carried (3-0).
7. Schedule the next meeting. The next Commission meeting was scheduled for Tuesday, October 7th, at 9:00 am. There is also a joint meeting scheduled for Tuesday, September 30th, at 5:00 a.m.
8. Commissioners’ reports and comments. All manholes should be checked for increased flow that could be caused by leaks in the system. A walk-thru inspection will be scheduled.
9. Adjournment. The Chairman declared the meeting adjourned at 11:24 a.m.
