MINUTES

The Town of Taycheedah Comprehensive Planning Committee met on Thursday, November 20th, 2008, at 6:30 p.m., at the Taycheedah Town Hall. Members present at the meeting were: Ed Braun, Jerry Guelig, Tim Krawczk, Neal Nett, Rebecca Ries, Brenda Schneider, Joanne Thome, Joe Thome and Mike Wirtz. Also in attendance were 3 residents.

1. Call to Order. Chairman Ed Braun called the meeting to order at 6:35 pm.

2. Approval of Minutes. Mike Wirtz moved to approve the minutes of the 9/18/08 Committee meeting and the Intergovernmental Cooperation meeting, seconded by Rebecca Ries. Motion carried (9-0).

3. Present and discuss reviews to the Draft Chapters.

Appendix is inadequate. Committee consensus was to eliminate it.

Page 5-5 Airports: second paragraph. Delete the second and in the fifth sentence so that it reads as follows: These include fuel, parking, aircraft rental, aerial tours and sightseeing, aircraft charters and maintenance. Then follow the revised sentence with the following statement: Medi-Vac service is also stationed at the Fond du Lac County Airport.

Electricity and Natural Gas: first paragraph. Delete the following non-applicable sentences. To provide electricity, Alliant has two substation properties in the Town. One is located near the intersection of CTH UU and STH 23 and the other is located along the western boundary.

Wind Energy: first paragraph. Delete the entire paragraph referring the possible construction of turbines in the towns of Empire and Eden.

Page 6-6 Community Facilities Inventory. Delete the underline under the word Facilities in the title.

Page 6-8 Cemeteries: Correct the following sentence so as to read St. Peter Cemetery is located off of CTH WH…..not HW.

Page 6-10 TABLE 17: SCHOOL DISTRICT ENROLLMENT TRENDS. Correct the title to Table 20 and correct the reference to Table 17 in the New Holstein School District and Fond du Lac School District paragraphs preceding Table 17.

Higher Education. Change Marian College to Marian University.

Page 6-11 Police Protection: third paragraph, end of the first sentence. Change County Fire Departments, County Ambulance to lower case and insert the word services after the word ambulance.

Third paragraph: second sentence. Insert the word Sheriff’s prior to the word Office to clarify whose office annually review equipment and vehicle needs.

Page 6-12 Fire Protection: first, second and third paragraphs. Insert the word Volunteer prior to the words Fire Department(s) in each reference to Mount Calvary and/or Calumet.

response to the Town. Unless living within two minutes of the station, Emergency Medical Technician’s (EMT) reside in living quarters located within the station while on duty so that they can quickly respond to calls.

First Responders. Create this title and insert the following paragraph: Both Mount Calvary and Calumet Volunteer Fire Departments support First Responder units. First Responders are trained and certified to provide

emergency trauma and/or medical assessment and assistance to the EMTs. Several Town residents volunteer their time as First Responders.

Page 6-15 Wind Energy: first four checkmarks. Add parentheses around all of the listed counties.

Page 6-17 Local Park Facilities, second paragraph. Pluralize Town Parks.

Scenic Overlook. Add the following paragraphs: The Scenic Overlook was initially purchased by the State of Wisconsin. The site provides a picnic area, small woodlands and an amazing view of Lake Winnebago. For many years, the Overlook provided a rest stop for travelers.

In 2006, the State of Wisconsin deeded the property over to the Town of Taycheedah.

The Scenic Overlook consists of 6.33 acres, contiguous to the Town Hall property; which could easily be linked by a trail to the Kiekhaefer Park trail system.

Hermanns Park. Create this title and insert the following paragraphs: Hermanns Park became a reality in 2008; due to the generosity of the Hermanns Family. Rick Hermanns, a former Town of Taycheedah resident, purchased the 1.5 acre lot at the corner of CTH QQ and Hillside Circle with the sole intention of donating it to the Town as a lasting tribute to his parents, Francis & Faith Hermanns.

Rick Hermanns also donated $15,000 for the purpose of purchasing playground equipment for the Park.

Chapter 7: AGRICULTURAL, NATURAL & CULTURAL RESOURCES. Rebecca Ries & Joe Thome.
