MINUTES The Johnsburg Sanitary District Commission met on Tuesday, February 2nd, 2010, for the purpose of conducting their February monthly meeting. Members present were President Franz Schmitz and Commissioners Ken Schneider and Dennis Lefeber and Recording Secretary Brenda Schneider. 1. Call to order. President Schmitz called the meeting to order at 10:03 a.m. 2. Approval of minutes. Dennis Lefeber moved to approve the minutes of the January 5th, 2010, seconded by Ken Schneider. Motion carried (3-0). 3. Annual insurance review presented by Mike Immel, Rural Mutual Insurance Company. Mr. Immel was unable to attend. He provided a few comments prior to the meeting. The District’s business owner policy premium decreased by just over $200 and the Workman’s Comp premium is the minimum as established by State law. Brenda Schneider informed the Commission that a claim for pump repairs will be submitted to the insurance company soon. 4. Discuss operational issues. Brian Schmitz intends to inspect the last 1/3 of the manholes once the weather improves. During the inspections he has completed so far, he has noticed a few incidents of flaking rust on the under-side of the manhole covers located in the Johnsburg Road/Schumacher Road area. The covers may need to be sandblasted and coated with epoxy. The District will monitor the situation. Brian replaces the roof-top filters on an as needed basis. Wisconsin Rural Water Association is conducting a training session on residential cross connection inspections. The session is February 25th in Kiel. Dennis Lefeber motioned to encourage Brian Schmitz to attend the training, seconded by Ken Schneider. Motion carried (3-0). 5. Consideration and possible acceptance of a Letter of Understanding submitted by Village Accounting, Inc. Ken Schneider motioned to accept the Letter of Understanding for services to be provided during 2010, seconded by Dennis Lefeber. Motion carried (3-0). 6. Approval of bills. Ken Schneider motion to approve the bills totaling $363.33 (order nos. 7-9), and to authorize the following: • Transfer $375.00 from the User Charge Account to the regular checking account for operational expenses. The motion was seconded by Dennis Lefeber. Motion carried (3-0). 7. Schedule the next meeting. The next Commission meeting will be held on March 2nd. The April meeting will be held on April 13th due to the spring election. 8. Commissioners’ reports and comments. The Commissioners are awaiting clarification on the Schenck billings. The Commission would also like to pursue authorization from Rural Development to reduce their audit requirements placed on the District. 9. Adjournment.
