MINUTES

Town of Taycheedah
Thursday, March 24, 2016

The Park & Rec. Advisory Council met on Thursday, March 24, 2016, at 6:08 p.m., at the Town Hall. Present were Chairperson John Abler, Jim Bertram, Dale Driscoll, and Earl Jewett.

Chairmen John Abler called the meeting to order at 6:08 p.m.

Minutes of the 9/2/25 meeting were approved.

John Abler reported a $350 donation from Holyland Snowflyers resulting from their successful Vintage Snowmobile event.

The town clerk received a letter from neighbors of Gladstone Park expressing concern about weeds.

The cotoneaster shrubs will be pruned at Hermann's Park. Mike Sabel recently pruned the trees. Unfortunately, the trees are ash and will be vulnerable to Emerald Ash Borer.

John Abler reported that a surveillance camera at the Kiekhaefer park entrance is probably cost prohibitive. He suggested closing the park at sunset to reduce inappropriate activity. The committee supported closing the park at sunset during Daylight Saving Time permitting night activities in winter (e.g. sledding).

John Abler reported the effectiveness of the brush hog that was rented last fall. The committee supported purchase of a machine with a Honda engine.

John Abler proposed moving the snowmobile trail for safety reasons avoiding two intersections with skiers. The committee was supportive and will explore options this summer.

John Abler reported that a local disc golf club is interested in exploring a disc golf course in areas of the park. John Abler will explore possibilities with the group.

Earl Jewett will explore volunteers for burning the prairie. He will seek a student from Fox Valley Tech's wild land fire management program to assist.

Kiekhaefer Park Volunteer Day was sent for May 7 from 8 - noon.

John Abler shared his work to map trails using GPS and Google Earth.

John Abler questioned whether the town should remove the town ordinance restricting model airplanes. No position was taken.

East Central Wisconsin Regional Planning has offered to assist with updating the Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan next fall.

1) Public Comment. None was presented

2) Adjournment. The meeting was adjourned at 7:17 pm

Respectfully submitted by Earl Jewett
