MINUTES

JOHNSBURG SANITARY DISTRICT
MONTHLY COMMISSION MEETING
APRIL 6, 2017
6:00 P.M.
TAYCHEEDAH TOWN HALL

Members present: President Franz Schmitz and Commissioners Dennis Lefeber and Ken Schneider. Also present: Recording Secretary Brenda Schneider.

1. Call to order. Chairman Schmitz called the meeting to order at 6:02 p.m.

2. Approval of the minutes of the 3/2/17 meeting. Motion by Dennis Lefeber, second by Ken Schneider, to approve the minutes of the March 2nd, 2017, meeting as distributed. Motion carried (3-0).

3. Annual review of the District's insurance coverage. The District's coverage was reviewed. Insurance for the Cty. Q lift station was increased from $16,000 to $52,000 due to the new pumps. The abandoned control discharged station was reduced to $5,000. The District will submit a claim for the recent repaired air vents.

4. Discussion and possible action regarding operational issues:
a. Lift Station. The March pump run time reports for both lift stations were reviewed. No abnormalities were noted in the March readings. The group discussed detailed information regarding the significant spike at the Malone station on 2/21. Based upon Mission detail, the spike occurred between noon and 3:00. The cause remains unknown.
b. Grinder pump stations. Based upon a billing from Sabel Mechanical, additional repairs were done at the Feyen station.
c. Odor issues. Doug Sabel and David Jensema, Van Dyne, temporarily installed a system for an odor control chemical that dispenses a chemical every time the pumps run. A system has been set-up at both lift stations. It was reported that one drum of chemical has been used. Ken Schneider reported that he has not noticed any odor recently. The Commission would like to discontinue the chemical additive for about one month to see if the repairs to the air vents have any impact on the odor issue. In the meantime, Sabel Mechanical will be asked to report on their findings.
d. Other operational issues. Nothing to report.

5. Consideration and possible approval to change the mailing address used by the District's financial institution. Motion by Dennis Lefeber, second by Ken Schneider, to approve changing the mailing address used by National Exchange Bank from the Taycheedah Town Hall to the Recording Secretary's home. Motion carried (5-0).

6. Approval of District bills. Motion by Dennis Lefeber, second by Ken Schneider, to approve the bills, (order nos. 24-29) totaling $6,011.45, and authorize the following transfer:
$8,000.00 from the Operations/User Charge Account to the regular checking account.
Motion carried (3-0).

7. Schedule the next meeting. The next Commission meeting will be conducted on Thursday, May 4th, at 6:00 p.m., at the Johnsburg School Hall.

8. Adjournment. President Schmitz declared the meeting adjourned at 7:17 p.m.
